Beyond Boring started with a simple idea: create beautiful, well-made watches with distinctive style at a price that makes them easy to enjoy. We’re a family-owned business based in the Pacific Northwest, and watches have long been a passion in our family. When we began building Beyond Boring, we wanted to create more than just a watch company. We wanted to show our boys what it looks like to take an idea, build a brand from the ground up, and create something together that we could all be proud of. With Curt having been a “watch guy” for many years, watches felt like the perfect place to start. We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way.

As Beyond Boring has grown, so has our vision for what we wanted to create. We still love the bright colors, bold designs, and playful personality that define Beyond Boring, and that will always be an important part of who we are. But our love of watches extends well beyond one style, and we wanted the freedom to explore more traditional designs while still putting our own spin on them. That idea became Sonera—a name that combines “son,” for our sons, and “era,” representing generations and the idea of building something that can carry forward.

The three North Stars in the Sonera logo represent our three boys and serve as a reminder of why we started this journey in the first place. Sonera gives us a new creative canvas, but it comes from the same family, the same passion for watches, and the same belief that great design should have personality. Together, Beyond Boring and Sonera allow us to create watches across a much broader range of styles while making sure every one of them still feels distinctly ours.
